Literary beers: They’re not fiction
A new Rogue Ale, White Whale Ale, included a few pages from “Moby Dick,” tossed into the kettle while brewing.
The beer was created in honor of Portland, Ore., bookseller Michael Powell who was inspired to take up his profession after finding a first edition of Melville’s seminal work in a box of books he’d purchased.
The White House is getting a brewery
The Obama administration confirmed today it has added a new facility to the White House: A small beer brewery.
“There is a home brew, if you will, at the White House,” said White House spokesman Jay Carney.
The first beer it’s brewing is called White House Honey Ale, with both light and dark varieties. Small batches of beer are made for special events, such as this year’s Super Bowl party.
